Marshall County’s roads and bridges are supported by a county-township system, with 25 townships in the county.
The Road and Bridge Department consists of a maintenance shop in each of the three voting districts in the county. This department is responsible for maintaining 338.5 miles county roads, 286 miles of gravel and fifty-two and a half miles of asphalt, all other local roads are maintained by the individual township.
Drainage structures on the county road system include 390 bridges and in excess of 2000 culverts. By Kansas Statute, structures greater than 20 feet in length area classified as bridges. Additionally, culverts with a waterway opening equal to or greater than 25 square feet are the responsibility of the County. One bridge crew oversees the building and maintenance of all Marshall County's structures.
Regulatory traffic signs and 911 road signs are maintained by the Road and Bridge department. Please report any missing sign to the County Public Works Office so that it can be replaced as soon as possible.
